Quality Child Care – How Does It Benefit Society?

It has been proven through research that “Quality Child Care” is of great importance and influence on families, children and the society as a whole. Quality Child Care is considered the most important investment and of a high-value return. Children who are exposed to high-quality childcare services have higher chances of personal and professional gains and success, which in turn provides individuals who contribute greatly to their communities and the society. The continued increase in the women’s workforce in recent decades pushes mothers into searching for caregiving options in order to return to work or pursue a higher education. Unfortunately with the currently limited spaces, waiting lists, inconvenient travel destinations and high costs the parents are forced into choosing between a licensed quality child care and other traditional caregiving options such as unlicensed home daycare, family members, friends or neighbours. Although these options might hold some advantages such as, minimal to no cost and flexible hours; it still holds some disadvantages such as, the children might not be exposed to activities that are developmentally appropriate accompanied by less social exposure and interactions. I believe that without childcare services the society will not be able to function and many parents will not be able to work.  The current need of quality childcare options puts more pressure to provide childcare services that have more spaces at an affordable cost; and encompasses registered early childhood educators who are nurturing, caring, responsive and knowledgeable about early childhood development.
