Knowledge

knowledge

“Knowledgeable, responsive early childhood professionals are essential” (MCYS [ELECT], 2014, p. 13).

Knowledgeable and flexible early childhood educators are able to set an effective environment for children to thrive and reach their full potential. As an Early Childhood Educator, one should acquire the necessary knowledge to the developmental levels and characteristics of children, their family dynamics and their surrounding communities such as culture, religion and ethnicity.

A knowledgeable educator incorporates their findings and experiences to implement the most effective approach to support and add-on to the development of children with respect to the differences in capabilities, needs and challenges. Knowledge can be applied in many various aspects like knowledge of children’s developmental stages, behaviours, temperament, special needs, communication.
