Kindergarten Pedagogy

I believe that the concept of play-based learning has remained essentially the same for the past 40 years, yet the difference rests in the definition of play-based learning. Due to the expansion of social and scientific research in  early childhood development, the definition of Inquiry and play-based learning has expanded  to include the children’s interests and input within the learning process.

I believe that kindergarten classrooms nowadays are more diverse and are based on providing activities that are appropriate to the unique abilities and needs of each individual child. The current image of the child views the children as capable, independent, curious and brings their own experiences and knowledge that are valuable to classmates as well as staff members. The current relationship between the child and the educator is of trust, respect and cooperation where we are all researchers and explorers, and our mission as educators is to guide their innate curiosity in order to reach their maximum potential.
